Autologus Chondrocyte Implantation(ACI) Done by all Arthroscopic Technique

Dr DHAVAL SAGALA IS ONE OF FEW SURGEONS ALL OVER THE WORLD WHO HAS ACCOMPLISHED THIS TECHNICALLY CHALLENGING SURGERY WITH SUCCESS.

This 17 yr old sports person from Dar e Salaam was diagnosed by Dr Dhaval Sagala with OCD (0steochondritis Dissecans) of knee following injury while playing football. OCD is condition wherein cartilage of joint is damaged because of previous trauma or nutritional deficiency. If untreated this would result in arthritis of joint and ultimately the patient would have to undergo joint replacement. ACI is a joint preserving surgery which is done essentially in two stages-cartilage biopsy and implantation of cartilage cell culture. Second stage of implantation of cell culture is usually done by open surgery. But Dr Dhaval Sagala performed the same surgery by Arthroscopic technique which is hardly done by few surgeons across the globe.
